Rio Grande Honor Flight recognizes New Mexico veterans with trips to memorials in Washington, D.C.

On a warm week in September, thousands of flight fans flocked to Roswell for the National Championship Air Races and Air Show.

In 2026, U.S. Route 66—a more than 2,400-mile highway connecting Chicago to Santa Monica—will celebrate its centennial.

Only one active highway tunnel is in use in New Mexico: the Cloudcroft Tunnel on U.S. Highway 82. It is subject to blockage from rockslides and falling trees from time to time.

Forty students from around New Mexico traveled to Washington, D.C., as part of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Youth Tour.
